This opens the WordPress Block Editor where you can write and design your content.

2. Understanding the Block Editor

The Block Editor allows you to build content using individual elements called blocks. Each block has its own formatting options.

  • Paragraph block for text
  • Heading block for section titles
  • Image block for photos
  • List block for bullet points
  • Quote block for citations

The editor provides a flexible layout that helps you create visually clear articles.

3. Adding Title and Content

At the top of the editor, enter the title of your post in the title field. Below it, use blocks to add content.

You can combine headings, paragraphs, lists, and images to build a structured blog post.

4. Adding Images and Media

Images help break up long text and make your content easier to read. To add an image:

  • Click the plus icon to add a block
  • Select the Image block
  • Upload a new image or select one from the Media Library

You may also embed videos, audio files, and other media using dedicated blocks.

5. Using Categories and Tags

Categories and tags help organize your posts and improve navigation. They appear in the sidebar settings of the editor.

  • Categories – Broad groups that help structure your content
  • Tags – Specific keywords that provide additional detail

Assigning the correct categories and tags improves user experience and search organization.

6. Setting a Featured Image

The featured image represents your post across the website, including blog listings and previews.

  • Open the Post settings in the sidebar
  • Select Featured Image
  • Upload or choose an image

Featured images help readers recognize your content at a glance.

7. Publishing the Post

Before publishing, review your content for accuracy and structure. When ready:

Your first post is now live and accessible to visitors.
